The JLP at APEX in Ottawa
The Leadership Summit of the Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada (APEX) took place June 2 and 3 at the Rogers Centre in Ottawa. This annual conference hosts over 1,000 executives from across Canada for professional growth, networking and inspiration.
Co-Directors Catherine Gilbert (union) and Roxanne Lépine (employer), and JLP Communication, Outreach and Promotion Officer Deirdre Brown welcomed dozens of conference attendees to the JLP kiosk. Improving workplace relations were a priority for many executives in attendance. They were keen to discuss JLP learning activities, particularly Duty to Accommodate and Respecting Differences/Anti-discrimination.
Several also expressed interest in becoming a facilitator, whether for themselves or for employees with a keen interest in building a better workplace across the public service.
The Leadership Summit was a great way to connect with so many public-service executives invested in exploring options for creating safety, conversations, and opportunities for learning in their workplace.
