The National Managers Community – in person in the Prairies
The Prairies Region National Managers Community (NMC) held one of their first in-person Managers’ Connect Days since welcoming their new Regional Lead, Roger Prairie. On June 24, Roger and the NMC team welcomed approximately 60 managers and aspiring managers from the Edmonton area for a day of networking, connection, resource sharing and skills building.
Regional Field CoordinatorKaren Sokol (employer) and local union facilitator from ESDC, Farzia (Rini) Tapadar, joined the event with a kiosk to help share what the Joint Learning Program has to offer. The JLP representatives were delighted to see many enthusiastic managers take an interest in the Program. Attendees were especially enthusiastic about the newly revised Duty to Accommodate (DTA) JLP offerings, and stressed how timely its return was. The region is anticipating a surge in requests, especially for DTA. The JLP representatives were also delighted to work alongside fellow-kiosk’ers; the Public Service Pride Network and FedStarter.
The NMC is a valued and consistent JLP partner in the Prairies. The Regional Field Coordinators look forward to the next opportunity to share space and join forces to inspire and support managers and aspiring managers of the Prairies-Northwest Territories region.
