International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

It has been more than 70 years since the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Nevertheless, discrimination and racism remain endemic, here in Canada and around the world.

On March 21, 2019, the UN’S theme is Mitigating and countering rising nationalist populism and extreme supremacist ideologies. According to the United Nations:

“Racist extremist movements based on ideologies that seek to promote populist, nationalist agendas are spreading in various parts of the world, fueling racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, often targeting migrants and refugees as well as people of African descent.”

Through the workshops it offers, the JLP is proud to address racial discrimination and harassment, and promote the respect and inclusion of all federal public sector employees.
