Webinar: Supporting Employee’s Mental Health – Linking Substance Use to a Mental Health Strategy

The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is hosting workplace webinars on the last Wednesday of every month at noon. The next webinar is titled Supporting Employee’s Mental Health – Linking Substance Use to a Mental Health Strategy and will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm (ET).

Emera Inc., a diverse energy and services company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is dedicated to making mental health in the workplace a priority on par with physical health and safety through their mental health strategy. This was in response to collaborative focus groups as well as surveys with their employees. With rising disability costs and cases related to mental health and substance use, Emera also created an alcohol and drug policy that continues to support their commitment to mental health.

During this webinar, hear from Leanne Dixon and Lyne Brun to learn how Emera created steps to address substance use issues in a safety sensitive environment while still providing support services to help employees improve their overall mental health.
